• If your relationship has broken down and you can’t afford to move on, a property lease option or instalment contract could be a way out.

Could a property lease option or instalment contract be the answer if you are trapped living with an ex partner?

Many people who’s relationship has broken down are finding that they are unable to move, as they simply can’t sell their property and cannot afford to run two homes on their income without the equity released from a jointly owned property. Many more people are finding themselves in this situation, referred to by the Conservatives as the ‘struggling middle’.

Many of these couples are forced into living together despite deciding to separate. Those with children are more likely to be trapped in this situation as neither party can afford the costs of setting up separate homes.

It is really sad to see people being forced into such situations due to the continuing economic decline causing not just financial but psychological pain amongst families.

I come across these situations every day and try and help as many people as possible by offering them an opportunity to move on with their lives.
I can match unwanted houses with desperate first time buyers who are unable to fulfill their dream of home ownership.

Legal paperwork is drawn up between the seller and the buyer to ensure that the buyer enters into an agreement to pay the mortgage and other expenses and in turn has the right to live in that house with the view to buy in the future within the agreed timescale.

This alleviates the pressure from the seller and gives an opportunity to the buyer, it’s a great solution for the current climate as it creates a real win/win.
With the future looking bleak or unpredictable to say the least, these situations are only going to increase.
